Toronto - Reality Check

Yes I am in Toronto.... Back to a city of concrete structures and shopping malls. I reached Toronto this afternoon with my friend and went to the hotel directly. Checked into a most amazing room and am happy about it... Have a living room and a bedroom and 2 washrooms. Still don't understand why. Anyways writing this blog I am gazing out of the window and can see the C&N towers standing tall.... me, Rahul, Dashmeet and Dhanashree went out and had dinner and came back to the rooms and chatted for 5 minutes and then off to sleep everyone..... unlike Vancouver, Toronto is a typical North American city with more people, buildings and all other stuffs. Wide freeways, fast and angry people. I had big expectations for Toronto and when I saw really whats there I am disappointed. Although I have not explored any of the city the first impression was not what I expected. i expected to see more and more buildings, huge billboards, or at least a huge place... The place is huge but I gues

Toronto here I come

Oct 7 th morning 2.20am: I have some time to write my new blog. It has been a hectic week and a tiring one. The course work is killing me and the exams during the next week are going to be awful (I should say it is good looking actually). The only reason I am motivated is because of my friends. I am super happy to get new friends and at the same time get back to the normal way with some of my old friends9 especially the one I care a lot). But, the highlight of the time is I am looking forward to my first trip to Toronto for an interview. I am getting an opportunity to see the largest city in Canada and the financial one too. Having already seen London, New York and Mumbai, Toronto is going to be exciting. The hotel stay is gonna be in Fairmont (phew!!!!!!!! one night’s stay is $397) and the travel is through Air Canada. Although my stay is going to be only for 2 days (36hrs precisely), I want to make it worthwhile. The good thing is that I might as well land up with the job and go the

India are the Champs

The 20-20 World Cup is over and India are crowned as the champions. The triumph was well deserved and we beat all the teams in the competition to emerge victorious. It was England, South Africa, Australia and finally Pakistan (twice). This is something that Dhoni and the boys can be clearly proud of; after all, 20-20 or 50-50, a World Cup is a World Cup. The event was not well received in the world and especially in India where the 20-20 format of cricket started very late when compared to other countries, even though India is considered as the Vatican of cricket. The entire tournament was fun to follow and each and every game was good. The moment India won the 1 st round game against Pakistan by the “bowl-out’, I knew it was going to be India all the way. Thanks to RP Singh and Yuvraj, India achieved it. The ultimate winner was the game of cricket, as the 20-20 was highly inspiring. The only sad truth is that it could slowly replace the 50-50 game and that would be a difficult thi

13 months and still battling

When I came 13 months back to Vancouver to start the MBA program it was all fun. The energy of leaving my previous firm and joining the MBA program was thrilling. The program is so energetic and the professors wisely and the best of the lot is the friends I have made. There are so many nice people in this world. I would say rather than the MBA course I have enjoyed being with the friends whom I have made here. 13 months and still battling..... A typical day for me now is to wake up around 7 am ( even though the alarm starts ringing at 6 am) and reach the school by 8.15am. Ipod is my mate here and has haled me through alomost all the difficult travel times. It all starts with a coffee before the class and then it starts. it is so much fun that i always end up forgetting what I did the day before. After the class it is back to sqaure one. Go to the MBA lounge and play Foosball for sometime. Oh yeah i am getting addicted ot this game as I am improving... :-) Nothing great about, but sti

Wikipedia Definition of BLOG: A blog (a portmanteau of web log ) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries . A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art ( artlog ), photographs ( photoblog ), sketchblog , videos ( vlog ), music ( MP3 blog ), audio ( podcasting ) or sexual topics ( Adult blog ), and are part of a wider network of social media . Micro-blogging is another type of blogging which consists of blogs with very short posts. In May 2007,
